Robert Vargas III is a native San Antonian and a proud product of the city's West Side. He is a fourth generation Texan, the son, and grandson of Migrant workers, and was a student in the Edgewood Independent School District.
It is Robert’s deep-rooted faith and love for his community that fuels his commitment to making the world around him a better place.
Robert's expertise spans political campaign management, strategic marketing, community relations, event management, and government affairs. He has worked with business owners, politicians, and non-profits to create strategies that will best help accomplish their goals. He does do so by way of empowering people with the contacts and resources necessary to advance their mission.
Robert's civic involvement is focused on grassroots community organizing, criminal justice reform as well as increasing voter education and participation. He currently serves as the recording secretary for the San Antonio Chapter of the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement and as an Executive Board Member of the Central Labor Council of the San Antonio AFL-CIO.
He was recently re-elected by the delegates of the Texas Democratic Party Convention to a second term as the Committeeman, representing Texas Senate District 26 on the State Democratic Executive Committee of the Texas Democratic Party.
Robert has worked in various roles in the political arena and has served several elected officials in Bexar County including; Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar, Bexar County Criminal District Attorney Joe Gonzales, Bexar County Democratic Party Chairwoman Monica Alcántara, Constable Leticia Vazquez, and several others.
He is the host of the bilingual Political Talk Radio show, Plática Politica which airs on KEDA Radio Jalapeño 99.9FM and on Facebook Live.
Robert was recently appointed as Policy Advisor to State Representative Ray Lopez of Texas House District 125 which encompasses the neighborhood in which Robert grew up in.
Prior to joining the Office of Representative Lopez, Robert served Bexar County Residents as the Intergovernmental Affairs and Constituent Services Liaison for the Bexar County Sheriff's Office under the administration of Sheriff Javier Salazar.
