About Robert Vargas III

Robert Vargas III is a fourth-generation Texan and a proud native of San Antonio, whose deep faith and working-class roots, as the son and grandson of migrant farmworkers, have shaped a lifelong dedication to public service and social justice.

For nearly two decades, Robert has been a trusted political strategist and public affairs consultant, leading efforts in campaign management, strategic communications, grassroots organizing, and government relations. He has advised elected officials, business leaders, and nonprofit organizations across Texas, helping them build effective coalitions and deliver real results for their communities. His approach centers on empowering people—connecting them with the resources, relationships, and tools they need to make meaningful change.

Robert’s political and civic leadership is rooted in bold, progressive values. He has been a champion for criminal justice reform, voter education, and inclusive civic engagement throughout his career. His grassroots experience and unwavering commitment to democratic principles earned him the confidence of his peers: he was twice elected by Texas Democratic Party delegates to serve as Committeeman for Senate District 26 on the State Democratic Executive Committee. In 2024, he was elected President of the Texas Stonewall Democrats, the LGBTQ+ caucus of the Texas Democratic Party.

A seasoned public servant, Robert has held key roles for prominent Bexar County officials, including Sheriff Javier Salazar, Judge Mary Lou Alvarez, District Attorney Joe Gonzales, Bexar County Democratic Chair Monica Ramirez Alcántara, and State Representative Ray Lopez. His strategic insight and dedication have made him a respected voice in Texas politics.

In recognition of his leadership and contributions, Robert received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the San Antonio LGBT Chamber of Commerce in 2021, an organization he helped establish.

He continues to live and work in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas, where his dedication to advocacy and community building remains as strong as ever.
