About Robert Vargas III

Robert Vargas III is a fourth generation Texan and San Antonio native whose deep faith and working class roots as the son and grandson of migrant farmworkers have shaped a lifelong commitment to public service and social justice.

For nearly two decades, Robert has been a trusted political strategist and public affairs consultant with a proven track record in campaign management, strategic communications, grassroots organizing, and government relations. He has advised elected officials, business leaders, and nonprofit organizations across Texas, helping them build winning coalitions and deliver measurable results. His work is defined by a disciplined, results driven approach and a focus on equipping leaders with the relationships, resources, and strategy necessary to succeed.

Robert is the host of the local radio show Plática Política, where he engages audiences on the issues shaping Texas politics and public policy.

A respected leader within Democratic politics, Robert has been a consistent advocate for criminal justice reform, voter education, and expanded civic participation. His leadership and political acumen have earned the confidence of his peers, leading to his election twice as Committeeman for Senate District 26 on the State Democratic Executive Committee. In 2024, he was elected President of the Texas Stonewall Democrats, the LGBTQ plus caucus of the Texas Democratic Party.

 

Robert has held senior roles with some of Bexar County’s most prominent leaders, including Sheriff Javier Salazar, Judge Mary Lou Alvarez, District Attorney Joe Gonzales, former Bexar County Democratic Chair Monica Ramirez Alcántara, and State Representative Ray Lopez. He previously served as Intergovernmental Affairs and Constituent Services Liaison for the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, where he worked at the intersection of policy, community engagement, and public safety.

In 2021, Robert was recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the San Antonio LGBT Chamber of Commerce, an organization he helped establish, in recognition of his leadership and enduring impact.

He is the founder of RV3 Strategies, where he continues to advise clients across the political, nonprofit, and business sectors, delivering strategic counsel and building campaigns and initiatives that produce results.

Robert lives and works in San Antonio, Texas, where he remains deeply engaged in advancing public service, political strategy, and community leadership.
